The Drawing Clinic

The Drawing Clinic is an interactive public performance presented by Sarah Mihara Creagen in 2024 for her solo exhibition at Neutral Ground Artist Run Centre. This project explored roles within the medical system, and the container of time created through the emptying of medication IV bags during an infusion appointment.

Sarah hosted free open clinic hours at Neutral Ground, where visitors were invited to come to The Drawing Clinic and sit with Sarah for a one-on-one conversation. Using intravenous infusion equipment, similar to what Sarah receives her long-term meds through every seven weeks, she used sumi ink and sodium chloride filled IV bags to create a live drawing during each individual appointment.

In exchange for the conversation, and a record of time spent together through the amount of ink deposited on the page through the infusion drip equipment, each participant was given a sumi ink and sodium chloride IV drawing at the end of their appointment to keep.
